Packing

If you are packing outside of Piyovi (e.g., in your ERP or WMS system), then Piyovi will automatically populate the packing details and the user can entirely skip this process. Otherwise, Piyovi’s packing feature allows users to create and manage packing units (boxes, pallets, etc.) for your shipment with various options.

Overview of Packing Process

  • Place an empty packing unit physically on the weighing scale or near your packing station.
  • Physically add all the items in that packing unit. In Piyovi, you could do the following to represent the packing unit:
    • Scan the items as you are placing them in the packing unit, or
    • Enter the Pack Qty values manually to match the physical items added in the packing unit, or
    • Do not do anything if you do not wish to assign items to a packing unit.
  • Pack by clicking on the + icon next to the package type or click on the Pack icon or alt + p.
    • A packing unit will be created, and
    • Weight will be captured:
      • Automatically pulled from the weighing scale if available, or
      • Enter the weight manually.
    • Dimensions will be captured:
      • Automatically populated if a pre-configured package type is selected, or
      • Enter the dimensions manually.
    • LTL Class will either be populated based on configuration or calculation based on weight and dimensions.
    • Enter any additional data like # Pkgs, NMFC Code, Declared value, etc.
  • For the last packing unit, all the leftover item quantities can be easily packed into one packing unit by clicking on the Pack All icon or alt + a.

Detailed Packing Process

  1. Scan your reference document # (e.g., sales order, delivery, shipment, etc.) to pull all the details from your source/ERP system. Alternatively, you can manually enter shipment/item details or select products from Piyovi’s product table and provide quantities. Qty is the total quantity available to ship for that line item. Balance is the left-over quantity yet to be packed. Pack Qty is an editable field where the user can enter the quantity to be packed in a packing unit.
