Rate Shopping

Rate shopping in shipping software typically involves comparing shipping rates from different carriers to find the best option for a given shipment. Once the shipment details (destination address & packing unit weights and dimensions are entered), click on the Compare Rates icon to view the various options available for that shipment including:

• Discounted Freight Cost – Your negotiated freight cost.
• Published Freight Cost (if available) – List rate by the carrier.
• Markup Cost (previously Freight Cost) - If markups are configured, then the final rate based on your markup configuration by your administrator will be displayed here.
• ETD – Estimated Delivery Date if provided by the carrier.

The carriers eligible for comparison are configured by your administrator based on destination country, package weight, and total shipment weight.

Example 1: A US domestic heavyweight shipment with parcel and LTL options.

Example 2: A US domestic heavy weight shipment with all LTL carriers as options.

Example 3: An international parcel shipment with all parcel carriers as options.
