Address Validation

Ship To or Consignee addresses can be standardized and validated prior to shipping. Through this feature, all the address details will be (when possible):

  • Verified
  • Standardized
  • Corrected
  • Checked for missing information
  • Classified as RESIDENTIAL, BUSINESS, MIXED, or UNKNOWN
  1. If your administrator configured for automatic address validation, then the system will automatically perform the validation when the user clicks on the Ship button. If there are no errors that need your attention, the system will standardize and auto-correct automatically. If there are any errors that require your attention, you will receive a pop-up window with more details – skip step 2 and proceed to step 3 below.

  2. Click on the Address Validation icon next to the Ship ToCompany field

  1. The results of the first attempt to validate the above address are:
    • ‘84 High Street’ has been standardized to ‘84 HIGH ST’.
    • ‘02156’ zip code has been corrected and standardized to ‘02155-3844’.
    • Address Type is classified as ‘MIXED’ which indicates that this building has both residential and business units.
    • An error stating that suite or unit number is required and missing.

  1. Enter the missing suite number and click on Validate. The results of the second attempt to validate an address are:
    • An error stating that the ‘Delivery Point is not valid’. This indicates that the suite number is invalid.

  1. Enter the accurate suite number and click on Validate. The results of the third attempt to validate an address are:
    • The entire address is standardized, including the prefix addition of ‘STE’ in Address 2.
    • Address Type is classified as ‘BUSINESS’.
    • No errors.

  1. Click Select to populate the validated address in the Ship To section in the Ship screen.
  2. When an address is modified during the address validation process, the Original ship to address will be maintained under the Parties tab for reference and audit.
